Many moons ago I saw GP Hall play in Bristol at the 'Be Bop' club. He was using reverb to create a wash of chordal sound, something I'd been experimenting with myself but up to then I hadn't really achieved such a large, rich sound. With this piece I had him in mind, it's a largely improvised chord sequence which I later manipulated, softening the attack of the notes and elongating the chords with reverb and other techniques. It's almost unrecognisable as a guitar, sounding a bit like a synthesizer pad yet I hope also retaining the organic string quality.
